This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use any of our products. By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

- User role within your organization
- OAuth tokens for Clio integration (never your Clio password)

- Fee agreements and billing documents
Usage Information
We automatically collect:
- Log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited)

3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Process documents using AI to generate drafts, extract witnesses, or calculate compensation
- Sync data with your Clio account
- Send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets)
- Respond to support requests
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
Important: All financial calculations in CompensateAI are performed by deterministic, audit-grade code - never by AI. AI is used solely for parsing fee agreement text and generating explanatory context.
4. Data Storage & Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
- Infrastructure: Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with SOC 2 compliance
- Access Controls: Role-based access with row-level security for sensitive data
- AI Processing: AI features use AWS Bedrock with AWS PrivateLink - traffic never traverses the public internet
Zero Data Retention with AI
We enforce a Zero Data Retention policy with our AI providers. Your legal documents are processed in real-time and are not stored by AI systems after processing is complete.
5. Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services:
Clio
Our products integrate with Clio practice management software via OAuth. We access only the data you authorize, and you can revoke access at any time from your Clio account settings.
AWS Bedrock (AI Processing)
We use Anthropic Claude models via AWS Bedrock for AI features. All processing occurs within secure AWS infrastructure with no data retention.
Stripe (Payments)
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers - Stripe handles all payment data in compliance with PCI-DSS standards.
CourtListener (AI Witness Organizer)
Legal research features may query the CourtListener public database for case information.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Account data: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account closure
- Processed documents: Retained only as long as needed to provide the service, typically deleted within 90 days unless saved to your matter
- Billing records: Retained for 7 years as required for tax and accounting purposes
- Usage logs: Retained for 12 months for security and debugging purposes
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
