Data Retention Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
ATTORNEY-ONLY PLATFORM: Juridion AI is a professional tool designed exclusively for licensed attorneys. Use of this platform does not constitute the practice of law. All AI-generated content must be independently reviewed by a licensed attorney before filing or reliance.
This Data Retention Policy explains how Juridion LLC ("Juridion," "we," "us," or "our") collects, retains, and deletes data when you use Juridion AI (the "Service"). This policy is designed to ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations including GDPR and CCPA.
1. Data We Collect and Retention Periods
1.1 Document Data and Generated Content
How Retention Actually Works: Your data lives in three storage layers with distinct retention policies. Case documents you upload to your document library are retained until your firm deletes them or your account is deleted — you control their retention. Documents uploaded within a conversation are deleted when that conversation is deleted. Ephemeral files on our Modal processing infrastructure are automatically purged within 24 hours, and transient batch job outputs are automatically purged after 30 days.
| Data Type | Retention Period | Deletion Method |
|---|---|---|
| Case documents (uploaded to your document library, Firebase Storage) | Until deleted by your firm or account deletion | User-initiated deletion |
| Documents uploaded within a conversation | Life of the conversation | Deleted when the conversation is deleted |
| Ephemeral processing files (Modal Volume: job directories, OCR text, export files) | Auto-purged within 24 hours (ephemeral processing files) | Hourly automated cleanup job |
| Transient batch job outputs (Firebase Storage) | 30 days | Automatic purge |
| AI interaction logs | 30 days | Automatic deletion (quality assurance & debugging) |
| TOC/TOA processed documents | Not retained | Returned immediately, not stored |
Key Protection: You control your case documents — they remain in your firm's document library only until you delete them or delete your account, and we never use them for any purpose other than providing the Service. Ephemeral artifacts (temporary job files, OCR text) are automatically purged from our Modal processing infrastructure within 24 hours.
1.2 Account Data
| Data Type | Retention Period | Deletion Method |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Until account deletion | User-initiated or upon request |
| Authentication data | Until account deletion | User-initiated or upon request |
| Subscription status | Until account deletion | User-initiated or upon request |
| Legal agreement acceptance | Until account deletion | User-initiated or upon request |
| Saved Draft History (JSON export data only, NOT uploaded documents) | Until manually deleted or account deletion | User-initiated via Past Drafts or Account Settings (optional feature - can be disabled) |
Important: Your uploaded documents (PDFs, Word files) are NEVER included in Draft History. Case documents remain in your document library under your control, while ephemeral processing copies are purged within 24 hours. Only the generated motion packet (export data) is saved if you have Draft History enabled.
1.3 Usage and Billing Records
| Data Type | Retention Period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Token usage logs | 90 days rolling | Billing and support |
| Transaction records | 7 years | Tax and accounting compliance |
| Purchase history | 7 years | Tax and accounting compliance |
Note: Payment card details are processed and stored by Stripe, not by Juridion. We do not have access to your full card numbers.
1.4 File Upload Constraints
Files uploaded to the Service are subject to the following constraints:
- Maximum file size: 50 MB per file
- Maximum total upload: 200 MB per session
- Maximum files per category: 20 files (Pleadings, Facts, Research)
- Accepted formats: PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIFF
Files that exceed these limits or fail validation are rejected and not stored. Accepted case documents are retained in your document library until you delete them; ephemeral processing copies are automatically purged within 24 hours.
2. Third-Party Data Processing
2.1 Anthropic (Claude AI)
When you generate pleadings, your document content is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI:
- Retention Period: Up to 30 days (Anthropic's standard commercial API retention for abuse monitoring)
- Purpose: Abuse monitoring and safety
- Training: Your data is NOT used to train AI models
- Deletion: Automatic after 30 days
2.2 Google Firebase
Authentication and account data stored in Firebase:
- Retention Period: Until you delete your account
- Location: United States data centers
- Encryption: At rest and in transit
2.3 Modal (Cloud Processing)
Document processing and AI inference occurs on Modal:
- Processing: In-memory during active generation
- Ephemeral Files: Temporary processing files are automatically purged within 24 hours by an hourly cleanup job
- Logs: System logs retained for 7 days for debugging
2.4 Stripe (Payment Processing)
Subscription and token purchases are processed through Stripe:
- Card Data: Stored by Stripe, not by Juridion
- Transaction Records: Retained by Stripe per their policies
- We Store: Transaction IDs and purchase amounts only (for accounting)
3. Your Data Rights
3.1 Right to Access
You can access your account data and case documents directly within the Service. Case documents remain available in your document library until you delete them. Ephemeral processing files are automatically purged within 24 hours and are not available for retrieval after that period.
3.2 Right to Export
You can download generated pleadings immediately after generation, and saved drafts can be re-downloaded from your Draft History at any time. Transient export files on our processing infrastructure are purged within 24 hours. Account data can be exported by contacting support@juridionai.com.
3.3 Right to Deletion
You can delete case documents, saved drafts, and conversations at any time within the Service; ephemeral processing files are automatically purged within 24 hours. To delete your account, contactsupport@juridionai.com. Account deletion will:
- Immediately delete your authentication credentials
- Immediately delete your consent records
- Immediately delete your subscription and token balance data
- Immediately delete your Draft History
- Retain payment records for 7 years (legal requirement)
3.4 Right to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw consent for data processing at any time by deleting your account. This will prevent further processing of your data.
4. Data Security During Retention
While your data is retained, we protect it with:
- Encryption in Transit: TLS 1.3 for all data transmission, provided by our cloud infrastructure providers
- Encryption at Rest: AES-256 encryption applied by our cloud infrastructure providers (Google Cloud, Modal)
- Access Controls: Role-based access with audit logging
- Infrastructure Security: Hosted on SOC 2-audited cloud providers (Google Cloud, Modal, Stripe)
- File Validation: Type, size, and filename sanitization before storage
5. Legal Basis for Retention
We retain data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contract Performance: Document processing necessary to provide the Service
- Legal Obligation: Payment records required by tax law
- Legitimate Interest: System logs for security and debugging
- Consent: Marketing communications (if opted in)
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Data Retention Policy from time to time. Material changes will require re-acceptance of this policy. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
